cupcake batter for breakfast

Ah the days. Luckily when I was growing up, there were 2 siblings, and 2 beaters in the kitchen aid for lickin. I wonder how we would have split that up if there were more siblings. Maybe someone would have gotten to lick the bowl..but that most definitely would not have been fair!

Anyway, photographed sisters Ella and Kiera as they made cupcakes for a holiday party they were going to later that day. Mom was super cool and let them mix with their hands. Oh the joy. Its like edible playdough!

Thanks for a super sweet morning girls. Hope your 2010 is better than ever. xx

I love our invites! I cant lie.

I'm totally in love with our invites. I tend to obsess over itty bitty details. And when that all pans out in the end for the best, well then yee haw. Its worth it!

And its all thanks to four talented people.

1. Alessandra Olanow, super fantastic illustrator. Alex and I went to college together and have managed to run into each other here and there in the city over the years. I've had her business card on my desk for a couple years, with a fun and quirky illustration on it. When we started talking about doing a drawing for our invites, i knew just who to turn to. Check her out!

2. Julie Crosson, graphic designer, illustrator extraordinaire. Julie has a company called Little Uni that she started with one of my besties from college where they design awesome unique baby tees and more. Julie designed our whole invite and we were on the right track right away. Andrew and i told her the vibe and the overall look we were going for, and she came up with fun and interesting ideas right away. It was such a fun collaboration project, i'd design again with her anyday!

3. Tim Chapman, Press New York. And i just found this video on YouTube of Tim and the letterpress. I also took pictures of our little invite on the letterpress behind the scenes. Wow. What a craft! Its beautiful. And Tim gets this whole rhythm thing down like he's doin the salsa. He's super reasonably priced and can turn around the job super quickly.

4. And finally my own Andrew. Who really had great ideas along the way. And was so much fun to design with, as usual! Thanks babe!

six weeks and counting sheep!

here they come!
WEDDING-wake you up in the middle of the night- NIGHTMARES!
we're 6 weeks away!!
only this time, i'm not showing up to a final exam unprepared, or naked!
this time, i'm not oversleeping for a job, or a test.
this time, i'm not showing up to a shoot without my cameras.
no, this time, i'm at my wedding, without anything to wear!
everyone was waiting..and i was trying on all sorts of outfits. kept taking things on and off, my hair was static cling! and i didnt even have time to shower! and it was my wedding.
woke up...phew. and then kind of laughing...am i really going to have nightmares about my wedding?? this is too funny!

the good thing is, i DO have something to wear. and a couple weeks ago, i found my shoes.
i have to share..because it really was a long search. thanks for getting into it with me mom! something comfy, but something sexy. something wedding worthy, but not too bride-y. something high but not too high. oh, and the hardest of all, something my size!! i think i'm shrinking.

anyway, there is one good thing about the state of this economy i have to say...and that is that you can walk into a proper Oscar de la Renta store, where everything is fall on the floor GORGEOUS....you can fall in love with a pair of shoes, you can find out they have your size!, and then...you can find out they are on sale!! what?
so i got them. and then i got this note in the mail. oh they are good.

anyway, hope all you brides are sleeping in dream land free of nightmares, and that if you have nightmares, they stay in your dreams, far from all reality!!

xx

p.s. if you are looking for wedding shoes, my 2nd choice was going to be kate spade. she actually makes loads of great looking shoes that are cute and sophisticated and different and wedding worthy but not barf bridal...in my opinion at least! g'luck!

Introducing Lucian

well 2+ plus weeks late, Lucian finally appeared making Tania and Julian a happy healthy family of three...welcome the world little Lucian!!

Lucian definitely did not want to sleep much during our session. But hey, from his late arrival, we already know Lucian's got his own way of doing things! And that's a quality you can only love and respect him for...especially at 5 days old!

Thanks for a great afternoon. Now lets everybody get some rest. xx

Erica and Riva, Shelter Island

How much do you love October??

Erica and Riva had THAT weekend. Remember that weekend?!
Where the pie stands and fruit stands on the North Fork had lines in front of them, where you almost felt little vitamins being dropped from the sun, as you soaked it up, knowing these moments were fleeting now.

And they had THAT wedding. Where the love and joy between the 2 of them planted perma grins on their friends and family all day/night long, where 8 hours went by and you wondered, how did that happen, and where you realized for the umpteenth time, that love truly is a wonderful thing.

Thanks for sharing your day with us Erica & Riva. Wishing you all the best. xx

30 days has September, April, June, and November

Photographed the most adorable family on Halloween morning.
Simeon was 1 month old.

While he didnt want to sleep a wink during the shoot, he was super chilled out.
Mom even had a rocker t-shirt to put on him (though we decided he looked a little too metal for the pics.)

I love the energy of a new family. Soaking up each new experience with awe.

Reminds me of those little colored plastic capsules you had as a kid...where you put them in water and they grew into a big purple sponge the shape of a flower or a dinosaur. They were the coolest, growing right before your eyes....
