Central Park Family Photography

It's not like the old days...now so many families are strewn across the globe, seeing each other on big holidays and family celebrations (mine included!)...so I'm always so aware of how special it is, when 3 generations actually live close enough that they can get together on a casual summer morning for pictures (and fun!).

Kids usually have a good hour in them for shoots like these, but let's be honest, after what the adults endure (piggy back rides, getting tackled, rolling in the grass, blowing bubbles,  playing hide and seek), everyone is happy for lunch afterwards! But it is so worth I would say...wouldn't you??

Ballerinas in New York!

Ahhhh! How stunning are these girls?!

So, Saturday evening I was in Central Park scouting locations for a family shoot that was to happen the next morning...when I saw 3 of these girls snapping photos of each other doing dance poses with their iphones. I had the inner struggle...do i talk to them, do i not...yes even after shooting all these years, that pause, that question, still exists!
But I did, and we took a few fun iphone shots, and Sophia who is a spunky little businesswoman for being in high school, said can we do a shoot....tomorrow?! Great! Same place same time, but this time with 5 of us?! I was like...ummmm, YES!

These girls are here from Miami studying ballet in New York for the summer...and what a treat this was. They were troopers...rolling around on rocks, wooden planks, having frequent mice visitors (it's New York after all!), tourists looking on...what a day.

Dance on girls...you're fabulous.

New York Family Photography, One Last Time!

So I photographed these guys about 6 months ago when the little guy was a real little guy! So of course I was excited to hear from mom Wendy again...but when she contacted me via email, text, AND phone, I knew there was more to this story!

They were moving to San Francisco...in a week!

And wouldn't you know, the day that we could work out best for everyone was LITERALLY the DAY they were getting on a plane to fly to other side of the country, leaving New York! Knowing myself before a flight, how I pretty much don't sleep because I'm packing until the very last minute (and this is even if we're talking about a 3 day trip), made me SOOOO incredibly impressed with these guys...and so honored! That they would want to spend the last morning with me and my cameras, photographing such a defining moment in their lives. (Not to mention the fact you guys were sooooo relaxed and chill, I want to bow at your feet in awe!)

I hope you've gotten settled in San Francisco now and that these images of your old home make you smile.
